Introducing 31 Bits

I recently stumbled across a company while entering a giveaway that captured my attention, 31 Bits. At first I just saw pictures of the product and what girl doesn’t love bright colorful jewelry?? I was intrigued. With some more reading I discovered 31 Bits is jewelry made by Ugandan women from get this…PAPER! I couldn’t believe it, what’s even greater is that 31 Bits buys the jewelry from the women which provides them with income to be able to support their families as well as work towards future business endeavors. I knew that I had to see some of their amazing products, luckily 31 Bits has a store locator on their website, unfortunately for me the closest store was in Chicago :(

Then I discovered that 31 Bits offers the opportunity to host house parties. I was in! Brooke at 31 Bits was great to work with and in less than a week I had my house party kit! I can’t wait to host the party for friends and family and will be sure to update on my party planning, the actual party and possibly a giveaway!

Welcome!

It’s our first official blog post on Welcome To Our West and in true Midwestern style I’ve decided to take a little time and introduce myself :] I’m Aubrey a young twenty something living in Springfield, Missouri. I currently play wife to Christian, step-mom to Masen, mommy to our adorable boxer Gibson and full time Elementary Education student. I enjoy spending time with my family, playing with our puppy, volunteering with children at our church, being a diehard St. Louis Cardinals fan, contemplating and sometimes actually re-decorating this house of ours and what girl doesn’t love a little shopping?!

Getting to the point with this post, I’m sure by now you’re thinking, “What in the world does Welcome To Our West mean??” Kids say the darndest things and when Masen was little he would refer to the neighborhood as “our west” as his then address was WEST Farmer. I guess you can say it’s stuck and 10 or so years later we’re back on living on a “west.” When I sat down to think of a blog name after much deliberation that’s the one that stuck. So friends, “Welcome To Our West.”

I hope you’ll continue to come back and keep us with us as we document the projects, ramblings, and happenings here at Our West.
